Xiaomi launched several new home appliance products in India and one of them was the new Mi Smart Speaker. Mi Smart Speaker has been launched as Xiaomi’s first smart speaker in India. The new offering comes with Google Assistant support and includes two far-field microphones. The speaker will also be available through other offline retail stores in the country soon. The Mi Smart Speaker also features a voice light on top that looks similar to the light ring available on Amazon Echo speakers. Xiaomi aims to take on Google Home Mini and Amazon Echo Dot with the launch of the Mi Smart Speaker in the country.
Mi Smart Speaker price in India, availability
This speaker is priced at ₹3,999 but will be available from mi.com, Flipkart and retail stores at a special introductory price of ₹3,499. Users will also get free Gaana subscription for a year upon buying the product. It will be going on sale through Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Homes stores starting Thursday, October 1.

The new speaker has a ‘premium’ metal mesh design that is 0.7mm thin and has 10531 holes so the sound doesn’t get hindered, that delivers a premium look and feel. It also comes with a circular rim with aurora light that responds with different colours when given a voice command. The product supports Google Assistant as well so one can sync it with other Google Nest products and Android devices for a multi-room setup.
Xiaomi has offered a Hi-Fi audio processor made by Texas Instrument on the Mi Smart Speaker to help accurately decode audio signals. The speaker also comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. You can also get a stereo sound experience by connecting two Mi Smart Speaker units via Bluetooth.
The presence of Google Assistant brings the Mi Smart Speaker to the Google Home app and makes it compatible with all connected devices that have Google Assistant support. You can also create a multi-room setup using the Google Home app on your smartphone. For voice controls, the Mi Smart Speaker comes with the two far-field microphones. The speaker also supports voice commands in the Hindi language through Google Assistant.
At the top of the speaker, you get a touch panel to control music, volume and even cut of the mic completely. You also get two far-field microphones at the top to recognise your voice from different rooms as well.
