Facebook-owned app Whatsapp is rumoured to be working on introducing Dark Mode on its mobile app. The Dark mode would be easier on the eyes while using smartphone at night or in a dimly-lit environment. Dark Mode not even will be easier to eyes, in fact, it will resulting in battery saving of a smartphone. Whatsapp is testing a new beta update for iOS users which would bring features in bulk such as hide, muted status update, splash screen and app badge improvements among others. The company has teased the upcoming feature’s arrival on its Android beta 2.19.297 update.
All Android users can enable the feature by signing up for the Whatsapp Google Play Programme or via an APK Mirror. The Dark mode has an excellent impact on AMOLED and OLED displays. So, if you do have a smartphone with an OLED display, you will experience better battery life with the Dark Mode enabled. However, an LCD does not show a huge difference as the backlight still stays on at all times resulting in similar battery drain irrespective of Dark mode.
