WhatsApp has been getting a lot of attention from its developers, by launching a new feature every month to make the chatting experience better. However, its rival instant messaging service Telegram has released a massive new update for iOS and Android that brings with it dozens of new features and changes.
One of the major new additions is the Theme Editor 2.0. The app now lets its users change the theme as well as schedule messages when the receiver goes online. With Theme Editor 2.0, you can now choose a precise custom colour from a colour picker tool. The custom colour can be applied to chat bubbles, backgrounds or even the entire app. The themes are even applicable when the dark mode is enabled on the app. Yes, Telegram already has a dark mode for its users. Once you are done making your theme, you can also share it with other Telegram users.
Apart from the new theme editor, Telegram will now also let users schedule messages based on when the user goes online. The feature is called ‘Send when online’ and it will send the message to the person when he/she goes online. Android users on Telegram can now also select parts of text instead of selecting the entire text in the message (this feature was already available on iOS).
In contrast, WhatsApp has lesser features but it is also getting most of these features slowly. WhatsApp is yet to get a dark mode on Android and iOS. Additionally, a lot of new features with regards to group chats have been made. Group admins will also be able to schedule a message’s life in a group. Hence, messages can auto-delete themselves after a set time in a WhatsApp group.
