Snapchat has launched a new AR feature called ‘Time Machine’. This feature shows users how they’ll look when they grow old. Snapchat’s Time Machine lens is different from other age filters as it has a slider which users can drag to see as they progress with age. So you can go back in time or ahead in time with Snapchat’s new lens.
Age filters aren’t new and have been popular on Facebook and revived earlier this year with FaceApp. Snapchat has made the new lens available for both Android and iPhone users. However, since it requires to process machine learning, the lens is accessible in live camera on a limited number of devices.
You need to open Carousel on the Snapchat to experience the latest addition. You can press the smiley button or tap on the screen and then look for the icon representing the Time Machine lens. You’ll get the slider on the screen after selecting the new lens that you can adjust to the left to wind back the clock or slide right to add on the years. Once the desired time is set through the slider, tap or hold the on-screen shutter button to capture the Snap.
Similar to the Time Machine lens, Snapchat also offers the baby lens and the gender swap lens which became quite popular as well. It’s interesting to see how and if the Time Machine lens will be a booster for Snapchat as the internet is always quick to ride on such features.
To get the Time Machine lens, you need to install the latest Snapchat version on your Android or iOS device. It supports iPhone 6s models as well.
