Instagram has reportedly launched a new video editing tool in Brazil that blends features that TikTok is best known for. This new video-editing tool is called Reels. Reels are available for both Android and iOS users. Reels is similar to TikTok, which allows users to make 15-seconds video clips with various editing tools and special effects. Reels will be accessible as part of the Instagram camera and it will have its own dedicated feed for other users to explore content created by an individual.
The Reels is currently available in Brazil as of now. But Instagram will roll out the service in India soon. Director of product management, Robby Stein went on to say that the focus has been on how to make Reels a unique format for users. Similar to TikTok, users can add music to their clips from the media library. If the users are not happy with the music available in the library, they can even borrow the audio from someone else’s video and give a personal touch to the track.
Instagram says it has something new to offer to content creators, and particularly in the way users share. Users will able to create 15-second videos and add special effects such as animations, stickers, background music, audio snippets and more. You will also be able to add timed captions and ghost overlay for effects. The effects aren’t as comprehensive as TikTok’s collection but there’s enough to create new content.
