APPLE WATCH BLACK UNITY LAUNCHED FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Cupertino-based giant Apple announced its initiatives for Black History Month, including a new Special Edition Apple Watch Series 6, new and updated collections, and exclusive content that highlight and amplify Black creators, artists, developers, and businesses.

Apple has also announced new, curated features across the App Store, Apple Music, the Apple TV app, Apple Books, and Apple Podcasts. It has also launched new Apple Maps Guides, the Apple Watch Black Unity Collection, at Apple sessions, and more to commemorate Black History Month. As reported earlier, Apple will also hold an Apple Watch Unity Challenge in February to honour Black History Month.

Apple Watch Series 6 Black Unity is priced at $399, and it will be available from February 1 onwards. It will be available for the whole of next month. The Black Unity Sport Band will also go on sale the same day with a price tag of $49. This one can be purchased throughout the year. Apple has also launched the Unity watch face that is available with the latest watchOS 7.3 update.

The new Apple Watch features a combination of black, green, and red colours symbolising the Pan-African flag, on the band and watches face. The new products have been launched to honour the ongoing fight for racial justice, Apple said in a blog post.

Apple added that Black creative community members designed the band and watch face. The company is also supporting six global organisations including Black Lives Matter Support Fund via the Tides Foundation; European Network Against Racism; International Institute on Race, Equality and Human Rights; Leadership Conference Education Fund; NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.; and Souls Grown Deep.

In addition to the new products, Apple has also announced more initiatives for Black History Month. The App Store will feature a Black History Month Hub that will highlight Black-owned businesses, developers, and apps. It will also feature stories with Black developers on the importance of representation. Apple Music will also highlight Black musicians from different genres throughout the month.
